Shirralee Counselling

Shirralee is a counsellor with over 24 years’ experience working with adolescents and adults. She has worked in different sectors of mental health in a number of countries including the UK, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Australia.

Shirralee is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and a Registered Counsellor. She trained as a UK Probation Officer over 24 years ago, and her qualifications include BA (hons) Social Policy, MA Applied Social Studies, Post Graduate Diploma in Addictions, Diploma Social Work, MSc Psychology as well as ongoing CPD each year. She has worked in the criminal justice system and other mental health settings as well as private practice over the years.

Other work experience she has includes working in schools so she has deep insights into the various pressures faced by young people at all phases of their development.

She uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness and DNAv – the youth model of Mindfulness and Action.

Shirralee works with individuals to explore the reasons why they have decided to start counselling and to develop a clear plan as they work through their journey, drawing on a range of therapies to fit with their situation and environment.
